Penultimate Silverstone

The Silverline Subaru BMR Racing team arrived at Silverstone today for the penultimate round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. Where did the 2016 season go? It only seems like yesterday we were unveiling our brand new Subaru Levorg GT at Media Day back in March and here we are with just over two weeks until a driver is crowned the 2016 BTCC Champion.

Mathematically there are still 134 points up for grabs meaning there are 13 drivers in the title hunt so we are all looking forward to a very close weekends racing. Both Colin and Jason are well inside the top 13, however it's going to be a big ask if either of the Team BMR duo are to lift the coveted trophy at Brands Hatch on finals day.

Currently Jason sits 8th some 59 points adrift of Championship leader Sam Tordoff, with Colin slightly further up the road in 6th with a 48 point differential. Unfortunately it's going to be even tougher for Colin at the home of British Motorsport this weekend as he will be forced to start the opening race from the back of the grid, having picked up his third penalty of the season last time out at Rockingham. Colin & Jason will be looking for a strong set of results in order to grab as many points as they can and try to close the gap to those ahead of them come finals day.

In the past Silverstone has been very kind to all four drivers with both Colin and Jason racking up several wins and podiums at the Northamptonshire venue over the years, and it's also the scene of where both James and Warren have produced their top results after a 9th place finish for Warren in 2014 and the same for James in 2015, albeit in very different machinery. One chink in the armour at Silverstone is that it was also the scene of a huge accident for Warren last year in free practice two, after he hit a concrete wall at high speed through turn one, that resulted with four breaks in two vertebrae in his back, so he will be returning to the scene for the first time since.

One thing that's certain this weekend is that anything can happen in the BTCC and with 12 drivers already having stood on the top step of the podium this year, it really is anybody's guess as to the outcome.

We look forward to seeing many of you there, and don't forget to come along to garages 4A-C at 10.55am on Sunday to support the Brave the Shave campaign. See link below:
